At Second Chance victims receive the tools and education needed to become survivors. We educate on the dynamics of Power and Control and explore the Cycle of Violence.
People in abusive relationships face many barriers - Pets should not be one of them
Companion animals, or pets, aren’t generally thought of as barriers, yet they often are in the context of intimate partner violence. The majority of Americas have pets and consider them family.
Most domestic violence shelters, however, don’t accommodate pets. This reality, coupled with the close relationship many people have with their pets, creates a significant — though underacknowledged — barrier to leaving an abusive relationship. At Second Chance we are eliminating that barrier by providing a temperature controlled animal shelter to accommodate your fur baby.
We Know How you Feel
At Second Chance 100% of our staff are domestic violence survivors. We made it and so can you!
